First aid for adults with children in their care

This course is for day care workers, nursery teachers and others that has profession working with children. Besides training the relevant first aid, in this course there’s also room to reflect on how to best avoid accidents and minimize damages when in charge of children. We’ll be using baby and junior manikins for practicing CPR and first aid procedure for choking. Contents are as follows:
- Main points of first aid
- Mitigating the risk of accidents
- Making the scene safe
- Acidents involving a fall: When is it serious, and what to do
- Checking response and the ABC’s
- Recovery position (children)
- Recognition of cardiac arrest and the chain of survival
- Calling for help – contacting 1-1-2 emergency services.
- CPR and the use of AED’s on vhildren
- Handling seizures and febrile seizures
- Choking – trouble breathing – blocked airway
- Burn injuries, chemical burns and intoxication
- Minor injuries: Bumps, bruises small cuts
- Alarm symptoms of infectional diseases
- Sun stroke/heat stroke
- Drowning accidents, and how to avoid them
- Safety during transport
- Psychological first aid
